Rattling Window Shades

I have one mini-blind on my kitchen window that will bang around if I don't remember to raise it before driving.  I took some nickle plated neodymium magnets and glued them on the window frame right where the blind would contact.  I glued a matching pair (noting polarity so they would attract) on the blind.  The magnets automatically find each other when I start to drive and they easily release when raising the blind.  I like how it works automatically.  There is already enough stuff to remember before rolling.

I am using John's message to start a new thread. See next message.

I have the same problem John did, but on a much larger scale. All of my Automotion Shades rattle. The problem is the metal at the bottom of the shade is rattling against the metal frame of the window.

I got some of those neodymium magnets. Little suckers, but they sure do stick to ferrous metal and REALLY stick to each other. I also bought a roll of magnetic tape. It is already about the same color as the window frames, so it is not very noticeable. My plan is to put a piece of the magnetized tape at the bottom of the frame and glue a magnet on each end of the shade where it would strike the frame.

Not yet done, but on my list for this Winter.

Anyone got any suggestions for improving my plan?

Thanks,

@Trent,

On my MCD shades I just used some stick on velcro attached to the shade where it contacts the metal window edge. I use the fuzzy side of the velcro and toss the ruff side. Cheap, easy, quick. YMMV with mini blinds.

Also Ditto what Ken said.. Also some black 1/4" x 1/8" stick on foam weatherstrip like they use on house windows and doors works well....
