John,
Here is a link, if you need any other Ideas, let me know....You can contact any plastic Sheet/tubing supplier and they should be able to give you a good recommendation on a material that is both durable and easy to work with.
Amazon.com: sheet abs plastic

Contact me if I can be of any help, as I live in the Houston area and have access to many companies that work with these materials

I used to get what I needed from an industrial supply outfit here in Appleton, WI. They handled all different kinds of conveyor belting. Material, color, thickness, texture, width, and just about anything else you can name.
Black rubber with corded reinforcement inside is typical.
Check around for industrial supply companies in your area. You might be surprised at what is available and the prices.

When I was looking around for some of the conveyor belting I finished up at a local Blacktop installer and asked if they had any used. They told me to go to their Pit where they crush the gravel etc. I found unlimited belting that was used but in new condition. They had either 3/8 " and 1/2" and 36" wide. I have the ok to go any time to get some. So far picked up 50' of it and replaced rear flaps on 3 coach's and I made some new ones for in front of our rear tires on coach. Neighbour has some on his gravel driveway now to run his Dodge truck on.
I suggest going to gravel pits etc and ask there.
