Mirror Setup

The previous owner likes the drivers side mirror set "back" closer to the driver. He says he likes to ride with the window open and the mirror acts as a wind break. I took a random survey in the RV park we are in. Most coaches are set up with the mirror arm fully extended. I realize that this is a matter of personal taste. I also come from the school that says they wouldn't build them to extend if they wanted you to set them back. I know I can "play" with both setups, but I was just wondering if there is a consensus out there about this issue. Maybe save me some time.
ALSO.....I have three mirrors. What is the top one for?

AND.... there is a t stat in the bay with the water manifold, and one in the storage bay. What do I need to know. Yes, I am reading the owners manual. Just lots to take in. Thanks, and Happy Trails.........

In the back position, at night you get reflections in the side window that interfere with the mirror. Also being more forward helps with a small vehicle right beside you.

Site picture and s bigger with the mirror back.  Yes there are reflections and the window screen can obstruct the view.

The mounting bracket was rotated on the front cap a bit to facilitate the rear location compared to the passenger side.  Different mount also

Set forward, you have less of a "Blind spot" plus your mirrors should be set so you can view the sides of your coach as a parallel line, the inside edge of the mirror should slightly overlap the side to be viewed. At least that is the way I set mine up, it makes it a lot easier to back up straight if the mirror is "NOT" showing you the side of your coach at an angle.

As you are reading everyone has an opinion.  I have the passenger mirror forward and drives back. I have tried all ways and like this the best.  I have a blind spot when turning left so I lean way forward when I am turning to the left.

With the passenger mirror forward I do not have to worry about the wife blocking my view to the mirror

When I got mine I had 3 mirrors on both sides.  I removed the drivers side top mirror so I could see over the mirror and have the bottom one adjusted so I can see what is along side of me.

I would move mirrors around and then sit in drivers seat and see how you like them adjusted.

With the driver's mirror forward, I found it practically unusable in heavy rain. The wiper pushes water into my mirror viewing area of the windshield.

The only right arrangement is what works best for you.  We have a short arm on the pass side because that is what was on there when we got it. The previous owner had the original long arm that he gave us. It is in a box. My driver's side is back.  We tried moving it further out from the coach, still back to change wind noise, no change. Once you get used to one way it is probably hard to get used to something else.

I use the top hat mirrors to eliminate blind spots on both sides.
