Allison 3000MH Filter Info Needed

I need to change the fluid and filters on my Allison 3000MH and after doing some reading on the subject I think these are
what I need for high capacity filters;

Allison 29545776
Allison 29545779

The quantities and pricing are all over the place so I'm hoping someone here can give me a steer towards a good brand of filter
at a reasonable price.

My ID plate (pictured) says 3000MH, not 3000MHR.................but I do have a retarder.  Also, I need to know if I have a 2" or 4" sump
regarding how much fluid I need to purchase.

Sorry about the inverted picture but I can't seem to get it rotated, and what appears as wetness below the plate is just some Awesome that I cleaned it with.

IMO Bill is spot on.  No reason to save a couple of bucks and risk a major overhaul.

Unless you are doing something today, I recommend calling Allison tomorrow with your serial number.  They have pretty good records so should be able to tell you exactly what filters and how much fluid.

I also suggest that you ask them for the torque specs to tighten the filter plate bolts.  To me it was surprisingly light and over tightening the bolts can lead to an expensive repair (speaking from experience).

Good advice.

I was hoping that Donaldson, Hastings, Wix or some other manufacturer was making the filters for Allison, in equally good quality for
less dough.

Beamalarm has the #s and use only Allison, not sure anyone else makes them?
The bolts are 45lbft I think and are steel going into aluminum so DO not overtighten whatever the correct torque is.
You als may get some extra seals as the kits used to give tou 2 types. They may have changed that now but make sure you put the new ones that match the pld ones. (sq or round and paper gasket or no gasket)

Without the "R" designation on the ID plate ...... Could it have been added at a later date? Is it feasible to add a retarder at a dealership?
