One Thing Leads to Another (Air Cleaner, Isolator Board)

I read a thread a few weeks back regarding the proper air filter element for my 97 270 so I pulled mine. It was kind of stuck in the housing. Turned out to be a dent that was holding it in. When I got it out I saw that the housing had a lot of rust both inside and out. There is a hole in the bottom of the housing which is supposed to have a rubber duck bill but this one was missing so water splashed up into the can. The filter was also a different number than the recommended one.

I decided to pull the housing and clean it up. I had to use an impact to get the clamps off and also the two heavy support bands. The impact twisted and ruined the clamps and both bands were pretty rusty. I was going to blast the bands when I noted that the rivets on one of them had pulled out. Anyhow, I bought new clamps and new bands, blasted and painted the housing and bought the recommended filter and reassembled with stainless fasteners.

With the filter housing out I had great access to the isolator board. Everything was working but I didn't know how old the components were and also everything had been lathered with dielectric grease or something which was a real mess. Anyhow, I figured I'd pull it and clean it up while I was waiting for parts. The bolts wouldn't come and of course broke off. Now what? Couldn't see going to all the trouble of drilling and tapping so I figured this would be a good time to relocate the board. I bought new parts, blasted and painted the plate and relocated it under the bed. I wanted to put it inside the bed cabinet but I would have had to rearrange the ATS and EMS so I went with the external mount like I had in my 320.

Good to go now.

Looks great!

Where did you find the Donaldson W26 P148043 for $46 plus shipping?
Also, my FT takes a P148043............does the W26 prefix make it different, or are they the same.?

I just followed Barry & Cindy's lead (can't go wrong) and got it from RyderFleetProducts.com. It takes awhile to get it but you can't beat the price. The  W26 must be a Ryder prefix; it's the correct filter.

Great job relocating the isolator board. I'm inspired tho' I'd told myself that I was done with that kind of work. Just need to squeeze out another three years to get to 20 years on the full-time road then park it or give it away. That'll bring some responses!

Looks like Jor is borderline for the insulation redo, when I did mine I pulled everything off the metal board and painted it and used
1" spacers when re-installed.

I know there was alot of discussion lately on the filter issue and what was/was not the correct one in some circumstances. Beamalarm and the FT paperwork has said since day 1 (as far as I know) said that this was the correct one to use.
