Measurements for a 1994 U300

FYI, found this hand drawing from the PO, might be interesting for some, quite detailed.

Thanks. I tried printing it, but my printer decided that I needed two copies of the rear half and nothing from the front, so I wrote in the pertinent information. Later today I'll make a small sticker to give me a visual reminder of how tall the coach really is. Then I won't have to be so nervous when approaching a low clearance.

I measured my height to be the same. Even though I know I still catch myself ducking at some bridges.

I laid a 2x4 across the highest point on our coach--the storage pod above the bedroom--while the coach was sitting in the driveway and measured from the bottom of the 2x4 to the blacktop:  11"4"
I took that measurement four years ago and still remember. Saw some vehicles in video that either didn't know their height, didn't care, were "asleep at the wheel", or the height was wrongly posted so I went out and measured our coach.

Before you guys go too far, the height of the U300/280 double bumper/molded bumper coaches with the tall compartments is going to be quite a bit higher compared to the low compartment models.

I would go out to ours, air it up and measure but I pulled a hip muscle and have been on crutches for several weeks.

Good to use a label machine and make one to put above the speedo.

Dear Pierce, too bad about the hip muscle pull.  Will not speculate what caused it or how long to heal.  But maybe it is just a learning phase to forewarn you of what you may experience in life after 50?

Thanks. No idea what caused it but it sure hurts. :) Going to UCSF to see about it. Might have been the side to side while weed whipping. Life after 50 was a breeze but at 73, I still think I'm 30 :) and sometimes need to slow down a bit.

Thanks, Ken. Just printed it.

I made a note that says "Safe Clearance 12' 6" " and stuck it on the dash. Our preferred route tomorrow takes us up a highway Jo Ann drove in the Jeep last week. She thought there were some low bridges and was wondering. She has since found out that the lowest one is 13' 6" so we think we're just fine. I'll still slow down when we get there, though, just in case.

Ours clears 12' 0" no problem, even with our high antennas. Bus models may differ.

On the drawing he is showing 10' 2" OS to OS of the mirrors. I thought the max width

including mirrors was supposed to be 102" am I wrong here? I know all states say

102".      !0' 2" could make for a problem meeting a truck on a narrow bridge.

Safety equipment, mirrors lights etc. can extend 10" on each side in Cal. Door handles 3" each side.
The coach is at maximum width with mirrors for Ca. Don't know the laws of other states.
