1996 Kubota 4cyl diesel belt removal

Hi all,
I'm 5th owner of this 1996 295. Owned 2years.
Can't pull out generator tray enough to use access hole to loosen idler pulley and tighten
Seems to be at stop? This photo is after I slid tray back in.
Did locate  the top idler pulley slotted adjustment.

I'd like to remove shroud and fully inspect belt,and prolly replace with gates 7360.
There's another shroud bolt near oil filter.  But shroud still tight. 
Not many strong backs here in Yuma to help pull out gen tray. Any help on shroud removal helpful. Thanks

Did you remove the 2 bolts holding the slide in place?,should not need strong backs,just your back.Are you related to Leary?

By the looks of the photo the 2 bolts are still present..... :o  :o

Forgot to mention, picture is of the slid in position, with 2 bolts installed. Sorry.
Just couldn't get tray out more that about 16 inches. Need,another 2 or 3 inches to clear access hole for idler bolt to loosen.

Tom,
My coach has the quiet box around the generator so it's different but I have to disconnect the exhaust to slide it out all the way.
It's just two bolts. Be careful of the gasket, at least on mine it's an oddball size and shape.

Tom,

On some generators like yours what you can do is remove the 2 nuts and 3 screws that hold the bottom shield bracket on and remove both bracket and rubber shield.  With coach raised and blocked pull the generator out to the stop. Now slide under and set u in the hole behind the generator.  This will give you access (not a lot) to the idler bracket.  While you are there look and make sure that the exhaust flex hose has not been up next to the starter wiring. I have seen this cause a fire so give it a look while you are there.

Mike thanks for tip about removing rubber mat.
But shouldn't tray pull out more to clear circular access hole for idler bolt?

Tom,

Yes it should, but with those first generation sound boxes some don't have good access due to the use of both Kubota and Isuzu engines and not modifying the sound box of each. The generator should slide out about half way though. If the tray is springy and not solid next to the stop you need to check and see if the flexible exhaust pipe is hung in behind the front cross member. There is a removable panel on that side of the sound box but it us useless for this. With the remote radiator the hoses also get hung on some of the frame that can cause the tray not to come up to the stops. With the belly pan off it will let you seee what is going on.

I have that same issue.  Can't slide generator all the way to stops.  In my case, the flexible exhaust pipe was too short when installed and it holds the generator from coming all the way out.  PITA.  There is a Pro-Tech shop in Leesburg, FL I intend to visit this winter and get the right length pipe installed.
