Allison Transynd Change

I'm planning to change the transmission fluid and filters in my Allison 3000MH and I need to know how many quarts it will take to refill it.  It already has Transynd in it so am I looking at 29-34 quarts?

I can purchase 8 gallons of Transynd from Merchant Automotive for $382.00 shipped.

Seems to me like the 3060 trans took between 5 and 6 gallons of fluid

changing filters only needs around 5 qts but if you drain the other section then that will add another few.
Torque conv' will not be drained.

Been doing more reading and first off is a fluid test and filter change.  May not need to change the fluid.

You can call Allison with your transmission serial number (on the driver's side of the transmission to verify the correct change quantity.

If a standard Allison 3000, 19 quarts for a fluid (with filter) change.  Most cost-effective is a 5 gallon pail from Allison dealer.  That leaves you with one quart left over.

I thought about buying the 5 gallon pail, but had to consider how to get it into the fill tube.

Funnel and long clear (cheap) plastic hose.  Been there, done that.

Set the pail on a 6' ladder and just pour it in.

Here is how I did it....just let it siphon, a little on the slow side but hey, I wasn't in any hurry.

I used a small gear pump and a long tube all the way down to the part of the dipstick tube that slants down. Worked great. I love the siphon out of the bucket. Ingenious!

I appreciate the responses and photos in this thread!  It's nice to be able to see what people are talking about and how to do this if you need to.

In the end, I hire it out.  I really dislike dealing with engine fluids.
