Speedo acting up

My speedo is acting up. Can someone tell me what the RPM would be at 65mph. I pull a vehicle which limits speed to 65. If the speedo starts acting I want to use the tach as my speedo.

Different coaches, different gear ratios and different tire sizes make it hard to guess your situation. If it works intermittently mark the rpm down for your coach for the main speed limits.

To find the rpm readings you could do a test drive with a gps that shows your speed or your phone there's an app for that.

If you have a smart phone you can download a GPS speedometer app and then make a cheat sheet of speeds at various rpm's in different gears.

As a side note, IMO, I doubt that your toad would be mechanically harmed by any speed that you would care to be driving your coach.

Thanks for the help. I will use the app off the phone. Bob I have a 3176 cat, and if my memory is correct I think your 1450rpm is pretty close.

Just went 900 miles in a week.  But I tow where legal at 75.  Some Nevada, Arizona and  Utah.  1596 rpms.

36,000 pounds combined.  OC to Vegas to Zion to OC 8.0 mpg.  I do not baby this.  Drive it hard as it can go when needed.

Its not the rv that's my concern. Gm products that are flat towed limit the towing speed to 65.

So was my element and is my tracker. Regularly tow at 80 with no issue or damage

If it were me I would follow my vehicle owners manual. It reads 65mph so be it don't care what speeds others travel. Sometimes I do follow the mfr's guidelines.

Yup, one learns, after checking what the max RPM is, to "drive by the tach". ^.^d

IIRC, I think our '97 Tracker is limited to 55 MPH when towed.  It happily follows along at 75-80 where speed limit and conditions allow.

If you use a GPS it should show you your traveling speed on the screen.
