Stuck on the side of the road in Flagstaff.

After 4+ years we are stuck on the side fo the road.  Have contacted FT and Coach net.  Coach net is arranging a tow.

Level System dash board light came on while we were moving with the audio beeping.  Pulled over to the side of the road on the apron.  Slight incline nose up.  Will no longer go into gear.

Tried to reset HWH control panel.  Level system Light still on.  Trans will not shift into Forward or Reverse.

Turned engine off and restarted.  Light still on.  Trans will not shift into forward or Reverse.

HWH Touch panel shows - Travel light on .

Have Dumped and releveled.

Ride Height looks good all around.

Have contacted Coach net and they will calll back with Tow info.

Thoughts.

If you need a tow, best is to pull both axles, driveline next. Don't let them tow pulling just one axle. Hope you can get a EZ fix so no tow is needed. Hopefully just a connector has vibrated loose. Good luck.

The HWH unit has a switch that can be put into override, allowing you to shift into gear when HWH thinks the slide is not completely in. I needed to use it once, and just leave it that way now.

On that model year the slide is so long that rough road or a long stretch will cause the room in sensor to not sense the pin is in. Says it is out and throws the level system if you are in gear it will stay but if you shift to N it will not go back in gear. Go under and look at the little silver box in the front of the first compartment. When all slides are in it should be green across the board. The blank or red one is the culprit. I have only had it happen on the front slide and it happened a bunch when I got it as the room in sensor was put in with a steel screws and needed to be brass. Also there is an override switch in the big hey box on the bottom right corner.  It did it to me twice but both times I had hit a pretty rough section of road prior to it happening.

The override switch is a white, flat plastic knob literally on the side of the HWH control box (has lots of LEDs and a clear front panel). On my 2002 this box is forward in the passenger side, first basement compartment. Rotate it from 110 to the 220 setting - the setting for transmission lock-out override. As others have mentioned I leave this set on "override" all the time. That allows you to reposition the coach slightly in an RV park stall without having to retracting the slide.

You have a differ style. This year is a rocker switch inside the silver box

If you ever need to be towed, make sure you have a set of these: Blank Title - Home  Installing both will insure you don't have any rear end damage, either immediately or a few thousand miles down the road. Cheap insurance and easy to install for the tow.

Thanks for all of your support and input.

We were on the phone with Coachnet arranging for a tow when my DW asked about the slide.  I had already cycled the air bladders and was trying to find Slide Pin Sensor positions and how to bypass the tranny signal when I hit the LR Retract button and heard the pin mechanism - the dash light and the beeping went out/stopped.  We were on our way.

The greater issue will have to be investigated and dealt with.

Will try to locate the box, hit the bypass switch and then determine which pin/sensor is acting up.

As I've said many times before - couldn't be doing what Carol and I are doing without the support of this group. :D

BTW - The North Rim is always nice.

Pierce - Gonna get me some of those.

Maybe those with slides and the electronic package should  pool their knowledge, get a schemetic  and figure out how to find and bypass the slide switches. Esp if the coach wont move for a switch failure. It could be as simple as finding the switch plug and a paperclip  bypass.

All you have tomorrow do is throw a switch right now.

And people wonder why we want a coach without slides. <grin>

Glad the solution was inexpensive. As Michelle mentioned, the response to a problem is phenomenal!
