Adding satellite

We have a 1996 U280. Thinking about adding a portable satellite dish. If I put the receiver by the front tv would the signal go through to the back tv or would the receiver have to be in the back.
We just upgraded the 13" tv in the front to a 32" smart tv. Thanks

If you wire the satellite output to the original input of the coach both TV's will see the same channel.

I'm assuming I would just connect the cable from the dish to the input where you'd hook up cable. It looks like all controls are in the back next to the bedroom.

I'm sure the front tv would get satellite if I put the receiver in the front, but it seems like if I did that, the signal wouldn't go to the back.

There is a distribution box that the satellite output would go to an input and you select which TV's receive the signal.
Without your coach information I can't tell you much more.

My husband just got the vcr out of the cabinet it has many wires plugged into the back.
The DVD player we bought only has a cable input, hdmi input and LAN input. I'm not sure if my direct tv receiver has that many inputs or if they are all needed. I'm including a picture of the controls to switch what goes where.

You only need the satellite output coax cable to go to the aux input on the back of the distribution box

I always installed the sat receiver in the closet, because the distribution is all there, and 120 volt power. Then I used a remote extender to operate the receiver from the front.Easy to run the cable(s) from the dish to the receiver.
If you want HD, then this won't work. You can use the outside coax, but you will need to bypass the switcher with barrel connectors, and make it a direct cable to the receiver. You can use Diplexers to feed 2 things down one cable. That way you can feed the signal back to the rear TV.Rear TV won't be HD.

Can you access the back of the distribution box by removing the top panel in the closet?

Yes, in our U300. It's under the carpet on the floor. Has a couple of screws to remove the wooden top if I remember correctly.

Yes. If it's the Winegaurd electronic one, get rid of it. All they do is insert noise into the system. I install a manual switch box  down in the cabinet by the floor. The cables normally reach.Or you can length them with barrel connectors.

I pulled up the carpet and found the wingard connection under the floor. What did you replace it with? Would the signal go to both TV's if I did that?

Yes,everything distributes from that location. This will connect everything. You can use these, or something like this:

RV Video Switch Box, 5-IN 3-OUT

Will require some re-wiring of the coax's
