50 AMP main breaker tripping while in transit
Had an issue this weekend coming back from Montana. Did the search here, and found a similar issue. It was so hot, and were driving into the sun going west at 5 PM. The dash air was fine, but not enough from the waist up.
I fired the trusted 10K Kabota, which always works fine,. After 3 attempts of the main 50 amp breaker clicking off within 5-10 minutes, I gave up. My mind starting thinking of how hot it is in the AC electrical department by the engine . I also visualized the transfer switch chattering for a moment from the vibration, and causing a surge.
When I got home, I plugged into our 30 amp service while everything was still super hot, no issue running the front air. I had checked on the road to make sure everything else 120 volt was off.
So back to the search here. One gentleman mentioned the main 50 amp breaker being weak, so with the road vibration it would click off. Made sense, but weird, it didn't click off all weekend in 100 degree temps with both air cons going, but that was stationary use.
So what the heck. I went to Home Cheapo where low and behold was a new 50 amp breaker for $9.98. popped it in, went for a drive (it was 97 degree's) no more breaker tripping.
Just wanted to pass this on. This sight is awesome.
