Dometic Duo Therm Confort Control

We are going to replace both front and rear Dometic roof AC units.
The front one doesn't work and the motor isn't available from Dometic. The rear compressor is very noise. Both covers are showing UV wear. As some of you may remember, we were chasing these problems during the winter while we were in the Keys.

The new Dometic #651815 13,500 BTU Penguin II works with a new Dometic Control.

Does anyone have any experience with the new thermostat? Its a 12 button stat.

The other option is a 12 button to 5 button conversion kit ($97.11 each)  that will allow us to still use the old 5 button stat.

We are in contact with a small local  RV shop to see if the will do the heavy lifting and install the 2 units.

If it's the CCC2, we had it installed when our roof airs were replaced.  LOVED it!  Much nicer thermostat/control than the 5 button.

One of the great features for a U320 (and assuming you order the heat pump model roof A/Cs), you can set one zone on AquaHot and the other on heat pump if you want.  Nice if you want to use campground electric but want things quieter in the zone you're currently occupying.

Michelle, thanks for the great feed back.
Yes, it's the CCC2 control and we are ordering the AC's with heat pumps.

Our concern was that the CCC2 had some bad reviews on the net.

Were you able to use the current thermostat wiring for front and rear AC's?

MOT did our installation, and I believe they were able to use the same wiring (I don't recall them pulling anything new).  They (Mike Weaver) did need to fabricate a walnut mounting block but that might not be an issue for your, depending on where your current control is mounted.

The only issue we ever had was user-induced.  If the system is in the transition phase (turning on), and you go and change anything to try to shut it off, the fan will run and run and run (even though the compressor isn't doing anything).  (say it starts up to run the A/C and you don't want the noise so you go and change the temperature or set it to "off")  You need to let it complete its process and then it's fine.

I also have the CCC2 thermostat, which has been installed for about one year without problem.  It is, in particular, much easier for an old guy to read.

 I also had it installed to control two model 651815 heat pumps and there was no need to run additional wiring.

As a footnote, the units with this number (full mfg. number: 651815C751C0) were not identified as Penguin, but "high efficiency" by the installer that I let recommend them.  Unfortunately, they are actually a lot noisier than the old units they replaced.  I notice this especially with the front one as it is located right beside the dining table and makes watching the news with dinner very difficult.  Depending on your sensitivity to air flow and vibration noise, you may want to visit a comparable Foretravel with these installed to check for yourself.

Does anyone know if the new 12 button control is plug compatible with 4/5 button RJ-11 telephone type connector and cable?  This cable runs from wall thermostat to first roof air.  And another similar cable runs from first roof air to second roof air.

Also does the bedroom thermistor temperature sensor just plug into the second roof air?

Are there any new cable that have to be run for the new roof air units or new 12 button wall thermostat?

We ordered 2 Penguin II Low Profile Heat Pumps AC Monday (6/19/17) from PPL through Amazon.
and the CCC2 Comfort control from Boat & RV Accessories in Dayton, Ohio.
They are all out for delivered today.
That is a fast turn around.

We'll see how good we are in unloading the 250# skid in our driveway. Actually we do have a couple of options.

Well that was too easy.
Truck showed up with a lift gate and a pallet jack and rolled them right into our garage.
