A couple of thoughts. The Aux compressor in a 2003 should only come on to
a) keep the slide bladder tank at pressure
b) raise a low point of the coach if the corresponding high point can't be lowered any further to achieve level.
Here goes some troubleshooting ideas:
1) When the Aux compressor comes on, are any of the lights lit on the HWH leveling pad? If so, which ones? Is there any indication that the coach is out of level?
- If not
2) Question - do you have an "Air Tank" switch as one of the switches by the driver's elbow"
If so, next time you hear the aux compressor start running, turn the ignition key one position so you can watch the air tank pressures on the Driver Info center.
With the switch off, those tank pressures shouldn't rise.
With the switch on, they should rise.
If they rise with the switch off, the solenoid valve operated by that switch (and possibly its check valve) are leaking through and your aux compressor is trying to keep the A and B tank pressures up.
- if this test is OK
3) Close the quarter turn valve(s) to the slide bladder(s) on that manifold. If the problem goes away it's pointing to a leak somewhere in the slide bladder system.
