Newer offerings in the "Tankless Water Heater" dept.

The NEW Tankless H20 Heater offerings, has me interested in upgrading/adding to my system. 
With shore power, would I need 230/240V or 120V to heat water?

Propane is even easier.

Believe most of the tankless water heaters installed in coaches are propane only. Most home units are either electric or natural gas/propane. Have not seen a combo. That said, the 120 volt 15 amp max tankless unit will not produce enough hot water for a long shower. The bigger 220v ones will but  20 or 30 amps are needed to do that.
You will have to run generator or be on shore power the entire time you need hot water for an electric unit.

Do not expect for an electric tankless water heater to work in your RV unless you only want warm water.  I have a 10,000 Watt (41 amps 240 V) one in my garage in Houston Tx where it is warm most of the time. It is OK there but  the water does not get HOT unless you are using very little water.  I would think if I had the water flowing enough for a shower it would not get hot enough

This one worked fine for me, your only problems would be: your generator is not big enough and you would probably trip a 50 amp shore power circuit.

I'm looking toward the EcoSmart 11.  It is rated @ 54 Amps, which gives me pause..  Thanks  pc

I will be installing the one I got from Girard at the FMCA rally in Chandler, AZ. Will let y'all know how it works out.

Installed one of the very first Girards on the market in 2011.  Went through a learning curve both us and the factory, had problems with the UR Sail Switch, which was soon cured by the excellent factory gang.  The heater has worked very well for 6 years, once and a while it will hic-up  and require a reboot, that's something we live with for unlimited hot showers in the AM.

Yes 11 kw load on a 10 kw generator will not work. Also would have to modify wiring and add breaker for the 240 volt circuit.
Propane tankless like the Girard is the way to go.

No issues with electric..  this is a shore power/generator item.
The EcoSmart 8 looks positive unless I can locate another option..  pc

Propane is the way to go. They use very little propane, ignite with battery power, and work reasonably well. The vent is biggest issue if you mount it inside. If you mount it outside it can freeze in freezing weather. You need steady water flow and adjust the temp. by blending hot and cold water or by adjusting the heater to produce the right temp.

Good info on the 240 voltage available in our coaches.

I've got a Precision Temp RV500 propane on demand water heater for sale. Factory refurbish. It's in my storage bay where the aquahot was. I have one like it installed and have been using it since 2011. Only had to have it cleaned once when wasps built a nest in the gas orifice. I paid $850 but make an offer. It will fit where a regular 10 gallon RV water heater fits.
