I think the problem with the vacuum breaker or hose breaking off is the way in which they're mounted from FT (I think FT).
My ell fitting at the shower wall was facing up, so once the breaker and hose were attached the overly long hose was putting
undue stress/weight on the plastic fittings at the ell (the ell itself is metal) causing one or the other to break, in my case it was the vacuum breaker.
I got a new vacuum breaker, installed it facing down by rotating the ell, then ran the shower hose around the slider bar to give
it more support. It looks better and after almost a year seems sound.
