Parker 700 install issue

When we first purchased our coach, I was told by Bernd it should be updated with a Parker 700 system.  I did not question it at the time and didn't know enough to check the installation.

As the last part of my fuel system upgrade, I wanted to install a vacuum gauge to monitor my primary visually.  When the fuel hose was pulled we found they had used the wrong fittings.  They had used NPT on both sides of the filter.

The brass fittings in the picture are NPT and had been slathered in goop to prevent leaking.  Once they had been opened those seals were broken.  When they were opened was probably in a servicing.  What we encountered was evidently a slow leak.  The coach would stall in warm up and I would bleed it and we would be good.  Started bleeding it every morning.  Could not find the leak.

The fittings at the top of the picture are UNF 14 were used to replace the NPT that came out of the filter head.  Then to adapters that were NPT to the hose. Note the UNFs have small gaskets.  Fortunately the filter head was not ruined.

I don't know if this was a one off error or not but if you had one installed at Worldline and have those symptoms it might bear checking.  Yet another part of the learning curve.

If you have the mechanical 8.3 Cummins in your coach as I do then I disagree with old Bernd that you should "upgrade" the filters,
I use 2 filters and have 230K miles and no problems. If you have a different engine and filters then he may have a point. When and
if you find out where they butchered the fittings let us know it may help someone else.

Bern'd's idiots strike again. I need to check out my installation as I was sold the same filter. You might want to check your return fuel line to see if it has the wrong clamps. Mine did and thanks to Bern'd crew I lost 80gals of diesel before someone waved me over. could have had a major fire.  :-X I told Bern'd and his comment was he knew about it. Then why did he install the wrong ones?

I do have the 8.3 mechanical.  The error is at both sides of the filter head.  The correct fittings are in the pictures and are flush with a gasket.  The bronze fittings were in those positions and are NPT no gasket and a ton of goop.  The NPT threads are longer and had tapered ends.  The install was done in January 2016.

I will check the return lines.

Maybe the 97's had a different "stock" filter setup then a 96,my point was why change the whole setup to begin with.I have a big
filter and then a small one and change at around 6K miles seems to work good.Am familiar with both types of fittings and alot
of yeah-whos try the same thing with the same result.
