Aquajet RV water pump (2004 original) whinning - had to replace pump

I researched the posts about replacing water pumps with the newly designed Aquajet RV and may go that route - but for now my original Aquajet RV pump is still pumping fine.  However it takes longer to start after turning on a faucet and really whines after the faucet is shut.  Sometimes it just seems to go on and on and won't stop until I turn it off.

If I push on the filter, the whining stops quicker as if there is an air leak around the washer.

Anyone have luck removing the whine and getting quicker starts by reworking the filter washer?

I called Aquatec and talked to a very helpful rep named Bill.  He told me that pumps made before 2005 could develop this problem.  They redesigned the control board to prevent it and to prevent problems caused by low voltage.  The whine comes from the control board telling the pump to run but another sensor telling it not to run.  Over time, this can fry the motor.  If you catch it in time, you can adjust the pump by backing out a set screw with a 1/16" alan wrench 1/4 to 3/4 turn.  Do not turn the screw in.

Mine was pretty far gone.  After 10-15 of use (wife and I both taking showers) the whine is contant.

Ended up having the pump replaced (paid by service contract.)

Larry,
When you replace your water pump, did you replace a RV Aquajet model number 5503-4v15-B636? If you still know, I see you did this 4 years ago. I need to order one and hope to get and install by next Friday. I am just not sure about direct replacement. I was struggling to find it on line. I had taken a quick picture (not a good one) of mine last night, thinking that I can just order from Amazon. I had done this once before with Shurflo on our previous FT. But this one (2003/295) has a Aquajet. Look like this one maybe the replacement model Amazon.com: Remco (55-AQUAJET ARV) Aquajet RV Series Water Pump: Automotive

I just e-mailed Remco, let's see if they can help.

Thank you,
AL

55-Aquajet-ARV or ORV  see Aquajet : Remco  Click on the "configurations" tab.  Only difference between the ARV and ORV is that the ARV includes a fuse.
Interesting you posted this question.  The one I had replaced started leaking and I just put in another.
