Electrical tickle

Getting an electrical tickle from the coach. Where to start? 40 vac to dirt.

phred,

If you have the OEM fridge I would go and unplug it from the receptacle. This eleminates a failing heating element.

I would first go to each item that is plugged in that isn't a three prong plug and doesn't have the polarity plugs ( two plug and has one that is larger). Turn the plug over and plug back in. I have found this problem in a mobile home that people had broke the ground lug off and would unplug during every storm and would plug in back in and reverse the polarity and it would make the trailer siding hot, also found same thing with the cord from a gas cook stove the cord was for timer, clock, and electronic lighter.
Be sure and check things plugged in in storage area too, another ting it might be is that the 50 amp plug on the coach is not fully inserted and TWISTED to make contact on the ground.

Just my two cents and I will collect when I see you if it works.

On shore power? Check the ground pin on your plugs. Also do a continuity test on both ground wire and neutral wire. Those are my thoughts.

TMan, your link is maybe not right.

Phred?  Tickles when you are plugged in?  Same when generator is on? If not then what you are plugged into in suspect.  Is it happens with both power sources then you likely have a wiring problem in the coach. Be careful here, you do not want to get the ground path.

Until you find and fix it don't be barefoot and don't touch the coach if feet and or ground is wet.  People have been killed before in certain circumstances with hot skin.

How about one of these wall outlet testers: Amazon.com: wall outlet tester . Also available Home Depot, hardware stores, Harbor F.

We were at a motel in Arizona on a hot summer night a few years ago. Big pool but as you got toward the underwater light at one end of the pool, you got a pretty good "tingle" so had to stay at least 15 feet away. Scary!

I was touching front bumper, wet sanding front of coach. Laid my sponge on the bumper. 40 vac to dirt outside coach house. Extension cord that I tested a few months ago is showing open ground now. Coach House is still without power.

I think this is probably the best reason ever to install a hard wired progressive industires unit, which I think disconnects with loss of ground.
