the hard to close entry door has been driving me crazy
After years of having to slam the entry door in order to close it fully finally l discovered the answer. Not all years or doors have this problem.
On my 2002 coach the "D" shaped weather strip inside the door's perimeter was sealed up so well that the air inside the it was acting like a balloon. The trick was to cut slits or drill holes on the inner side of the rubber about every foot to let the air out as the door is closed. Amazing...no more slamming or holding pressure on the door to engage the secondary lock position.
You readily can detect this problem by holding the outside lever up/outward and then pushing the door shut a few times. If it seems to hit bouncy resistance at the last moment you probably have found the problem. The more obvious other cause is too much weather strip material added to the hinge joints areas or the door in general.
Duh...glad I find it easy to close door and t o be much quieter as well. Just one more problem conquered.
