2001 u320 flashing gear indicator light

Hello, went to move coach today, check engine light came on, went out, I pressed R and R light flashes, no drive .. Green travel light is on, but orange level light is on, Any help would be appreciated !!

Dave,

Simplest explanation for Allison shift pad flashing when you choose either R or D is that engine RPM is too high.

If engine speed is too high, the Allison ECM is merely "protecting" the drivetrain from damage.

Thank you Brett, the engine rpm is ok, but the level light on the dash is on..the orange light, the green travell light is on indicating travel is ok... I can raise the coach, I can dumpthe air, it appears to be fine, 170 psi air, all appears normal, I wonder why the orange level light is on... will try disconnecting coach batteries in the am and see if some thing will reboot..its got me stumped..whats the saying " never did this before"... I appreciate the help !!

Dave,
Yes 170 psi air pressure on the gauges sure needs to be addressed as if it was this high the safety valves on the air tanks would be stood open.
Have you tried to cycle the slide (completely open and close) to make sure that the sensors are sending the closed/locked signal to the HWH control computer?

One simple way through determine if the HWH system is causing the flashing shift indicator is to put the HWH in bypass using the 110/220 rotary switch.

As others have said, do NOT drive until air pressure is correct.  170 is WAY over-spec.  Your cut out PSI should be in the 110-120 range.

Were it me, I would buy and install a new air governor (under $25).  Again, this is assuming this is not a gauge issue, but unlikely both gauges failed at the same time in the same way.

I saw the needles pegged at 150 psi on our dash air gauge one time, while running down the highway (a self-installed air line blew off the D2 - it was totally my fault).  When I pulled over and stepped out the door, I could HEAR the safety relief valve venting pressure off the wet tank. even over the noise of the running engine.  I find it hard to believe that the OP could be driving his coach around with 170 psi on the air system and not notice something was amiss.

Does the factory dash air pressure gauge even go up to 170?  I'm guessing that number in the OP's post must have been a typo.

Sorry, posted wrong air pressue, should have been just over 120 psi... did another search and I was not holding slide switch close position down long enough to let the slide pins lock.. opened slide, closed it and held the switch closed for minute for a minute and all the problems went away... Thank you all for your input, very much appreciated ..
