Need info on what this is

Went by to check something on my coach today. Heard the 12 V air compressor in the basement running and open the doors to investigate. This valve was open letting the air out and would not let the pressure buildup so the compressor was running continuously. What is this little device under this air bowl and where do these wires go. And how do I get it to close so the line will pressure up?

That's the auxiliary compressor's solenoid purge valve.  I believe it is normally open and when the compressor comes on 12VDC is applied which closes it. You might remove the bowl and have a look at the valve to see if something is physically keeping it from closing and/or follow the two wires to see what energizes them.  It may be the solenoid that most of the other wires in that system are attached to.

Yes, and the bane of many (ok, two people I know  ;)  ).  Corrosion, debris, etc. can cause problems sealing when the aux compressor runs.

What's the white substance in the bottom of the bowl and in the valve opening?  It almost looks like it could be desiccant powder or mineral build-up.

Mineral deposits or general crud.  No dessicant dryer in 2000.

That bowl is also notorious for developing cracks at the fittings where the solenoid screws in.  You can order replacement bowls, but apparently that one is somewhat unique to HWH/Foretravel compared to other Parker Wilkerson parts.  It's P/N PS721P (HWH part number RAP90539). This is a 06L Poly Bowl with 1/8 Connector.

I will go back when I'm prepared to work on it, I wasn't today, no tools no light no time. The compressor was running blowing out the hole in the solenoid opening. Does the bowl just screw off? I cut the hot wire to the compressor to get it to stop running till I can check it out

Good solution. Replace with male/female spas connectors or similar (vs butt connector). Now you have a "switch" for your 12v compressors

It is the bane of my existence.  You can remove the brass fitting at the end, it will reveal a slotted screw fitting.  Remove this and the solenoid will come out.  This leaves the base with 2 wires attached.  Clean the seat and the rubber washer on the part you removed and reassemble.  I also posted some pictures a while back about this issue with the air compressor purge valve solenoid..  I also resolved  this one time by putting an ever so small amount of Marvel mystery oil in the air intake hose.  Over a year so far no harm.

Ok I pulled the solenoid took it apart cleaned and lubed it. Went out and touched the wires to the battery to make sure it worked before reinstating it and nothing happened so I assume it is not working. Is hwh  the only place to get one or does fot or mot have one. Anyone know the cost?

Common part on Amazon or eBay.  12vdc solenoid valve normally open.

Tough to find one like the original one pictured.  Anything else will be more complex and bigger.
Maybe Parker/Wilkerson.

RAP6354.  A Google search does not turn up any sources for this exact configuration other than HWH (or perhaps MOT or FOT).

Did you check the coil for continuity with a multimeter?  Those potted coils are pretty darn reliable.  Most coil problems are usually caused by bad power supply or wire, faulty ground connection, or corrupted wiring harness.

If the OP is correct, and the coil is truly dead, then rebuilding the valve will not solve the problem.
