Wetter Than Normal Wet Bay

We drove for 6 hours today in pretty heavy rain. When we arrived at our overnight stop I was shocked to see how wet the wet bay was!  I assume this is road spray coming up through the "trap door" in the utility bay (yes it was closed).  Any way to better seal this?  This area's surface rust was cleaned up at MOT (nothing requiring further mitigation) but this much moisture won't keep it in good condition!

Or rain running down the side and under the rubber gasket.

I have one bay that collects moisture during heavy rains.  I tightened the door at top with the adjustment pins and reduced it a good amount.

You can put a bright flashlight in there on a dark night with little ambient light, and close the door to look for any light showing.  Worth trying anyway, though I may be wrong about the moisture/water source.

Also could your faucet in the bay leak a little water during road bumps?  Was water pump on?    How about the shore water hose - did it have a cap on it?

Randy...I saw a post recently here .that the owner found the bay door seal was installed upside down..ie: the seal joint should be at the bottom of the door frame not the the top...Something to check

I stuff a towel inside the trap door opening and it keeps the road spray from getting inside the compartment.
