Stainless steel water spotting problem.

Some bone head (initials are M.L) used crummy park water to wash the heavy dust off and now I can't get the spotting off the bumpers and awnings. I've tried my "Alu Buff" which works on the wheels, but nothing else. Any ideas?

Bar Keepers Friend?  I love that stuff for cleaning aluminum and gelcoat, but you should test in a inconspicuous spot first, just to be safe.

Bumpers are stainless steel. I would use care to not get chemicals on the rubber inserts.

Ya, one has to be careful. I'm wondering now if my "Alu Buff" is the wrong stuff, as the bumpers are the main problem. I use the cleaner/sealer that 303 makes for rubber on the inserts. Napa is just down the street, I'd forgotten they are stainless.

May try some rubbing compound and it probably will take a while.

You might want to try some CLR. If what you have on the bumpers is mineral deposit, again use in an inconspicuous place.

Mike,

Might check his model again.  No such animal as a 1989 U225.

Found out you are right: It's a '89 GV on a Oshkosh chassis w/ a V-8 CAT inc. air bags. He keeps it undercover up in Wisconsin and comes down here to wax it. Looks great except for the stripes and rubber window seals.

Mike invite your neighbor to join the forum! I have some 89 stripe materials left over, not enough to do a whole coach, but could be used for damaged areas, see classified section.
