New air bags

Beau and Mel put on the new air bags today and chased down a bunch of air leaks. As is typical with such projects, seven of the eight air bags came out and went in with little trouble. The eighth one, though, fought valiantly the entire time, finally requiring a Sawz-All before coming out. The new bag took note and went in very meekly.

The air leaks were something else. One spot got the soap spray three times without a bubble, but really bubbled up the fourth time. The drain valves on the front two air tanks were both shot, so now I have new ones with lanyards, so I don't have to crawl around in the mud anymore. We're all a bit suspicious of the check valves on those front tanks, but time was getting away so we decided to leave them alone for now. I may take one off and then get a new one to put on and see what happens. If no difference I'll replace another one with the one I just took off, until I've been through all of them or until the problem is fixed.

At any rate, the ride from Nac to Livingston was MUCH smoother than it was coming down to Nac and the air gauge needles didn't move nearly as much. Also, after being parked for 2 1/2 hours I'm still seeing 70 pounds. That hasn't happened in years.

David, 2 1/2 hrs down to 70 lbs is a big leak in my books. We have sat now for 3 days after moving coach and I am still at 90lbs. Those check valves on tanks are a bear to get off but should be changed out with new ones in my books. They are cheap.
