FlexSteel Seat identification.

Looking to replace our seat foam but cannot find the seat style (tag) that Flexsteel needs. Our coach is 1995 U300 but after seeing prior and some later year seats they seem to be the same.

Can anyone take look under their seat and see if a model tag exists.???

Greatly Appreciated
Thx

Look under your seat skirt at the spring on the bottom of the seat cushion there should be a piece of paper tucked up in the spring that has all the seat information

Our chairs were replaced in 2007. They are called "Ultra Leather", I'll see if I have any details in the files if you need.

I did get a reply from flexsteel yesterday. My seat is no longer in production and was dropped from their line some time ago and foam is no longer available for it.

We received confirmation today from Flexsteel that the 443BUSR foam is stlll available. We ordered extra firm cushions with new poly fillings for the seat and top. $90.00 per seat. Looking forward to see what we get.....
We had contact with Lisa Bauer (email) in the RV Section.
Hope this helps

Now that we have found the replacement foam, I am wondering, has anyone replaced the foam themselves?  And if so, do you know what tools are needed?

You will need some new "Hog Rings" and "Hog Ring pliers" these can be got at some home improvement stores, auto parts stores, or off the net.  Make sure you get hog rings for upholstery and not the ones for fencing. There are so few used on seats that you don't need anything fancy like an air driven hog ring tool just a basic pair that should run you less than $10.  I do like the offset ones to get into corners.

After rereading this thread you are doing just the front seats. They really don't have more than half dozen hog rings each. (or at least ours had 6 or 8. )  The couch is another story as it has 50 or 60 on it. You may be able to reuse the old hog rings if you are carefull removing them with needle nose pliers.

So you have replaced the inserts then before, I guess we will find out how difficult it might be, I wonder especially for the top part and the back support.  It will be interesting.  Thank you so much for the tip.  Lisa Bauer at Flexsteel also mentioned that the only tool we would need would be the hog ring pliers!

I replaced the foam in the seats of a U280 many years ago.  Took a couple hours, biggest job was reaching the bolts to take the seats off the pedestals so you could turn them over to work on them.  Foam made a tremendous difference in how my butt sat.
I highly recommend this as its a cheap fix and easy to do.
I replaced only the seat foam, I saw no need to do the seat backs.

Thank you Gary!  That sounds really promising, The passenger seat has always been sagging to the left, I cannot wait!

We just got some high density foam from an upholstery store we do business with and used an electric knife to cut to the desired shape. The couch had to have the springs and clips refitted which was more trouble than the foam. Once you get started you will wonder why you waited so long to do the job.  Like Gary has said the hard part is getting the seat off the pedistal and turning it upside down.

We did it...or in truth Hans did 90% of the work.  We received the new foam from Flexsteel and worked on the passenger seat first.  Got it done!  It was almost impossible to use a needle and thread, even though we purchased the curved upholstery needle the leather was too tough to penetrate.  So we used a stapler.  Had a difficult time finding similar thick staples.  On the driver's chair we reused the staples that were already in place making the job a lot simpler.  The new foam makes an incredible difference.  Hans also cleaned the chairs with a fantastic product from a detail shop, the vinyl sections, not the leather.  So happy this is behind us now.  Cost of foam $275.  Cleaner Magic Cleaner Concentrate from Detail King!  This is also an amazing carpet cleaner.
