Atwood water heater repair

We are currently staying at Beachwood RV Park in Birch Bay, WA, it is our first camp of this year. Realised that the propane side of the Atwood water Heater ( original, model GH6-7E dated Feb 26 1993 ! ) would not kick in, when I put on the switch I had a green light but no red came on.
Last year I added a Hot Rod electric element kit so I did have hot water.
I started the process of cleaning all the connections, but no result, called my brother, John, and he suggested I  carefully remove the circuit board and pull out the 4 wire connector from the board then using a lead pencil rub some pencil lead on the small contact strip. I did this and managed to get a red light, and I could hear a click but no spark etc. I then read that you should first use the pencil eraser to clean the contact strip, I then used the lead pencil to apply more lead contact and it fired up!
It is time to change it out but I hope this quick fix may help someone at least be able to get hot water.

I carry "Dinosaur" boards for the furnaces and HWH, the factory boards are junk. If you need help and get over to the Olympic Peninsula, these guys have taken good care of me for years, I MISS them down here!  Olympic Peninsula RV Repair, Service and Performance Center - Olympic...
