Any reverse threads on lug nuts on 2003 U320?

We have not yet had any wheels pulled on our 2003 U320. On 26 March we are replacing the tires. Any reverse threads on any wheel position to warn the tire installers about?

Torque when they re-install?

If there is it should be stamped on the end of the studs. L or R not sure on the new stuff.

The hub centric wheels which started at Foretravel sometime in the late 90's (Our 99' for example) should all be right handed. If there were left handed threads, they would be stamped on the end of the studs as previously posted.

On our 99 320 the lug nuts are suppose to be torqued to 450 ft. lb.

Dan,

A really good tire shop will have a hydraulic lug nut torque machine. The nuts get torqued to spec with no long armed wrenches. In MN if you get truck tires (coach tires) mounted and torqued by hand you are supposed to return and have them retorqued within a few hundred miles. Free. I did and they snugged up just about every nut.

We got six new tires two years ago. I will trade in my two steer tires for two new ones this year and then in two years get two new ones for the front and rotate the fronts to the rear. Eventually I will have 2,4 and 6 year old tires when it is time for tires and 0-2 yr old tires in front all the time. Spreads out the cost a bit. Some extra mounting costs. I like the idea of pretty new tires up front.

I purchased a 4 to 1 torque multiplier that seems to work very well since my torque wrench only goes to 250 ft. lb. There is suppose to be some loss but I checked the torque multiplier at 50 ft. lb and then checked with torque wrench and it came out to 200 ft. lb. like it was suppose to. I am not sure that I have enough ump! to do 450 ft.lb. without a long cheater bar

If you lube your lugs your torque point is lower. I go to about 350# with lubed threads.
I don't like the idea of all those dry threads on each wheel torqued to 450#+ pounds, sitting in water and possibly salty road conditions for a unknown length of time, corroding, then trying to get them off during a road side emergency and breaking the studs off.

Regarding wet torque vs. dry... here is a chart from an Alcoa manual. Note that the hub piloted show only a lubed torque spec.
