1991 Unihome 225 suspension

We have been restoring our 1991 UniHome for the past 12 years and are now at a point we need to redo the suspension. We have a scheduled 8000 mile trip to Canada and Alaska and would like to have the suspension redone before we make the trip. Has anyone went to a newer air system to replace the Torsilastic suspension or do we have to work with the old system and replace the springs and shocks. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank You,
George Phillips

George,

Welcome to the ForeForum.

Exactly what is wrong with your Torsilastic suspension:

What is ride height at each wheel position and how many shims left?

Are the shackles (vertical pieces attached to the outer end of the arms) centered in the rubber blocks (rubber not wallowed out?

BTW, where are you located?

Welcome George! We have the same "Velvet Ride" suspension as yours and have had no problems (because Brett did a lot of work on it before we bought his coach!). If you Google "torsilastic rv suspension parts", there is plenty of info. There is a after market company that makes parts no longer available from Goodrich, I believe it was Sulastic  Maybe Brett remembers better than I ?  Depending on where you are, there is a company in Dallas/Fort Worth that works on them:  www.coachspecialists.com
I have the service manual if you need info, would be glad to copy whatever you need. I've heard of air bags being added, but never heard whether it was worth it.

P.S. You should put your coach info down at the bottom of the page, it's helpfull for us to give any advice/insight
