New Color Monitor

This topic has been well covered, but I need a little help. I recently installed a new rear camera from RV cams. It works great with my existing Javalina monitor but its black and white. The camera is color. Many of you have purchased cheap monitors and have had no problems. I would like to go the same route. I want to keep my on off sw. along with selecting from camera, compass and tank monitoring. Please give me a suggestions of type of monitor. I plan to remove existing monitor and surface mount new one over opening. What type of connectors will I need and how many inputs should the monitor have. I value every ones thoughts.

I got it done with an inexpensive Pyle monitor with 2 inputs, and some BNC-RCA adapters.  That allows you to use the existing cables and switches, although the monitor has to be changed to invert the signal when switching between camera & tank monitor. That's not a problem for me anymore as I've scrapped the Audit system and installed a Seelevel.  If you use your existing switch, you shouldn't need the 2nd monitor input.  Or, you can use both inputs....1 for your camera, the other for compass/tanks.  I don't have the compass so I'm not sure if that requires its own input.

Did any of you guys use the second input for the monitoring of the tanks, etc. Both monitors look good.

I use one monitor and it hooks up to the javalina box in the dash. the new color monitor can be switched using the switch on the dash just like it did with the old black and white monitor. you will need a bnc to rca adapter plug, available on amazon. I bought a cheap monitor off the auction site and a new color camera. works great for me. I mounted the 7" monitor outside. also when your remove the old monitor use it's power source as pictured here, I attached it to the aluminum tray the B/W monitor was on. I made a simple bracket to hold the monitor on the dash. You can see it in the pic also. it all was easy to do... Hope this helps...

Or you can ask RVCams for the correct monitor and it will come with all the correct connectors-not the cheapest approach but the easiest.

Yes, BOTH the camera and monitor may have/MAY NEED "reverse image" capability.

Set the monitor to read the Javalina output correctly.  Then set the camera so that is reads correctly.

Javalina changed the "straight vs reverse image" thing, so there is no "here is how they are all set up".

Again, Tim at RV.cams is familiar with this.
