Service on the road.

We all know that good service facilities are hard to find when some service is needed while on the road.
If there was a folder here that when a member had a good experience he could add by state, city, name of the shop what service was provided and a short overall view of that facility, that could be a great resource when broke down on the road.
Over time as that list grows it could become very helpful for a member needing help on the road.
Thoughts?

Sounds like a great idea. However great service is perceived, what is good for someone is not do good for another. One may be hesitant to recommend them. Example a couple of weeks ago a friend asked about a vendor, I replied that I had used them several times. As far as I know they never called him back. Just my thoughts.

I tried 3 different shops in Phoenix to fix a brake/abs/trans retarder related problem and none of them could figure it out.  Foretravel shop got it done.

 Phoenix Transmission
 W.W.W. Williams
Freightliner of Chandler Az      Couldn't because the "computer" couldn't tell them what was wrong.  Sad,    And prolly a sign of times to come for all of us.....      ( they still charged us to "look" at it).

Computers can't ask why, most programs are very rigid

I think for something like this to be useful we need to keep it simple. No personal spin on the information you provide. Just the facts, did the shop fix the problem?
Were the charges reasonable? Would you go back?
If so add them to the list. It would be a better place for the next guy to go to than picking a shop out of the yellow pages.

There is a website called "Pis.ed off. com." A lot of RV dealers are in that 'Hall of Imfamy'.

Ran across this site a few years ago and have found it to be helpful - http://www.rvservicereviews.com/index.asp

Used it to find a mobile RV tech in Tucson who, as rated, was indeed excellent!  ^.^d

Can't beat Ken and his wife, Rachel. He is a wild man and a very good fixer. They were working on my Aqua Hot one time when Rachel pulled herself out of the compartment. She looked like a chimney sweep, covered in soot. Rachel sets the bar pretty high!

Yes!  Both Ken and his wife replaced our front AC and found out it was still under warranty so no cost to us.  He also replaced the main slide motor which had been giving us problems before melting down on us.

Highly recommend them.

Here's a link to his information, Mike. He is only mobile. He has an incredibly well equipped trailer. If you are looking for a cheap fix though, he is not your guy. He charges what he's worth. If you contact him say hello for me.
