If the end bell bearing hasn't been changed in the generator it is overdue. Once changed out it will be good to go a lot longer.

While we were at Oregon Motor Coach getting some service work done on our coach including the hour meter on our geny. The guys mentioned a prison preacher that had come in with close to 40K hrs on his geny. He wanted it replaced but..The generator was still working, he was just getting nervous about it. They told me " change the oil and filters n let her run......

2300 on ours but we now use a little Honda 2200 for just battery charging and "light work" if we're parked for more than couple days.  Does that make sense???  Does anyone else work it that way.  We boondock 90%.

I'm glad to read these posts.  I didn't realize we should expect such long service from these generators.

It sure if the end bell bearing has been replaced? What's involved?

David,
This is a hard question to give an exact answer due to all the variables.
Here are some of the things that are different with different years and different models.
Some have quiet boxes some don't the quiet box makes this job a PITA.
Does your generator have brushes or is it a brushless. Brushless is less work to do. If you  have brushes I would change out the brushes while in there.
Does the generator have a remote radiator? a remote radiator gives you a little more room.
Once you get past all the variables the job isn't that hard as it is just like any electric motor that you would change out the end bell bearing on.

As with any gas or diesel generator out there, the more you run it, the better off you are!  The biggest detriment to a generator is lack of use.  Change the oil, oil filter and air filter normally every 200 hrs.  In our '97 we had a 3 cyl Kubota and if I remember correctly, it was a 14k gen.  Most all parts can be found at a Napa store.  Easy to work on as it did not have all the metal covers like the newer ones do.

Ok.. guess I need to run mine more...

I have 780hrs(mine since 520), Transynd, change filter every 200 hrs..top off. Analysis says A Okay.

Gonna change the fluid, should I change belts, hoses because of age?

Certainly check both.  Not necessary to replace just on age.  Belt especially can be neglected because it's often difficult to get to.

The manual recommends 100 hours for oil and oil filter change on the IDL800 3 cyl. Isuzu engine.Foureye, hope that transynd
was a brain fart.
The bearing pretty easy to change,a bearing puller a must.

PT manual recommends 100 hour change interval. Isuzu manual says 200 hour change.  Do what makes you feel good.  I do 100 hoour/one year change.
