Steering box 1997 U320

My steering box is leaking big time. Where is the best place to get a refurbished unit? Time is of the essence. Not sure the model/part number of the box until I get it off.

I have a rebuilt from Sheppard, works just fine. Most any truck parts supplier should be able to get you one pretty guick. Other folks have used Redhead blurprinted rebuilds with good results. As I under stand it you will need to ship them your old box, they will turn it around quickly.

Red head was 4 days to them and 3 days back from Las Vegas... Turnaround was next days after they received it so a little over a week from start to finish

It should be a Sheppard M-100PDP1 which was Foretravel spec.

There has been a replacement/spare floating around the Forum that someone may chime in on its whereabouts.

If it is just a seal leak you may be able to just put in a couple of seals and check your stops (very important even with a rebuilt unit)

If you can find a Sheppard M100PGW1 it is a more widely used in the class 8 trucks and is a swap out. The difference is internal valving and the plungers on the PGW1 and the PGW1s do not have to be manually adjusted. There is a thread from a while back that a member did a good write up on this that I will hunt up and link when I can find it.

I'm going with redhead. $496 for rebuild plus about $200 shipping. I did price the m100pgw1....it was $2000 for a new one and $1300 for rebuilt with my core. They could have it in one day so it's a much more common steering box.
