Onan 6.5 Gen Set FUSE. What size ?

Hey guys...  I have the original set of books for my 86 GV and searched for the replacement fuse to START the GEN SET...  it appears a 10 or even 20 but no markings anywhere and no where in the book.  Just a schematic showing location of FUSE.. but no idea of size.  GEN set quit yesterday on the way home from RMNP here in CO

The marking is on the metal end I can see it in the picture AG ? Get out your reading glasses and look again!

250... but no marking for 5, 10 or 20.  Buy biggest ?  Or exact what spec calls for ?

No 250 amp that size but 25 amp is common.

That is a Slow Blow Fuse By the wide metal band in it. Is it AGCon the metal end?  That tells the length. The Amp Rating sould be after the AGwhatever number..

Got it.... no markings for amp.  But inside the fuse compartment stamped in plastic is a 5amp.  Got it .. thanks to all

That makes sense 5 amp slow blow fuse.

It is on the control panel on the generator and at the top. There is a pull out thing that holds the fuse.

Amazing.  This little 5amp glass fuse allows the two remote starter switches to work and the main starter switch to start the generator in the basement bay...  i will also keep a few extras in my tool kit... thanks again to all.

After looking under my dash, and then looking at the Genny control, prior to posting I could not find it. Duh just spent 5 minutes again looking at the control panel with a flashlight, the camofloged flat black thingy that holds the fuse also blocks the white fuse print, while looking at it from a not all hunched over view angle. Thanks

Subsilked the 5 amp fuse runs a starter solenoid hidden in the control box, part 30 on page 34-35. My guess it's a Ford starter solenoid pretty reliable.

Also my coach has at least four of these solenoids I think I will carry one spare, continuous duty hd solenoid. Not horrible expensive $65 ish And a
one for dashboard functions
one for battery boost
One in the generator
One for the hydraulic leveling pump I am guessing?
One on my semi smart battery system that charges the engine battery first, and then switches to charge the house batteries based on soc voltage.

The onan solenoids may look like a ford starter solenoid, but they are not the same. All Onan solenoids are not the same either. You have to go by the number that is stamped or written on the solenoid ears that is visible when the solenoid is removed.

Red tractor your a wealth of information, and I'm guessing you have already tried the Ford solenoid and it didn't fit or pulled to many amps.

I worked on rv's for over 30 years and all solenoids are not wired the same internally. I think that the newer solenoids might work with a ford, but some of the earlier ones charged the batteries through the solenoid and the ford  ones would not work.

Ok, I'm learning a lot tonight. So does the Genny have have 2 segment s one for 120 ac one for 12 v DC generation, or magnets on the flywheel for ignition and charging?  Not that it matters much, good, bad or otherwise my smart isolator??? Appears to sense engine start battery voltage and charge it first priority, then switches any 12 v output back to the house batteries. Plugged in or on the generator, engine start battery is ready to rock n roll via a four stage convertor/smart charger???

You should have the Emerald 6.5 Onan. If I remember right it came with points and condenser. At some point Onan went to electronic ignition on that size generator. The Emerald does not put charge into the batteries. The older NH, BFA and BGA generators had a 12 volt charge circuit built in them.
