Windshield replacement

We had a tree branch shattered our driver side windshield this last Sat during a wind storm while it was parked in our driveway.
We were planning on heading South the next day, Sunday.
Our current insurance company, Safeco will replace it at zero deductible.

So far so good. They are shipping the windshield from their Cleveland warehouse to a Safelite shop in Toledo that they claim is certificated to do class A rvs.
Looking at the Google maps, the shop is located in a strip and the bay door doesn't look tall or wide enough.
Can't call the shop, no phone number is listed and Safeco can only patch your call though. The shop hasn't returned Safeco call to them or to us.
If we don't hear by tomorrow, we'll do a road trip (1 hr) to check them our.
Anyone here have any experience with Safeco or Safelite insurance?

Safelite should give you the shop's number, call again and get a different person. We had our winshield replaced outside of a shop's
building, only takes a couple of hours, does'nt have to be indoors. Are Safeco and Safelite 2 different companies?

Thanks John,
Safeco insurance uses Safelite RV Solutions to administrate their glass claim. Then Safelite RV Solutions selects one of their Safelite glass installers.

Your response makes me feel a little better, just not a lot better.

We had both windshields replaced in July 2011. Progressive sent us to Duncan in Elkhart, ind. They had a installer then. They don't install anymore, but will ship the glass to an outside installer.

Every time I call them I ask the same question and get the same goofy answer, why on earth do you post the shop's phone number
when it goes to the national number anyway.
We have had good luck with some companies with warrantee claims and/or complaints,if you don't get anywhere with the 800
office number,if they have a Facebook page get on it and post some negative comment, you'll get a call pretty quick.

Very few glass shops have bays large enough for a motorhome. I had one of my windshields replaced and they did it on the street in front of the shop.

We have had MOT do both sides of ours at different times.  They don't want you driving out of the lot until the next day so the adhesive can set.

Now to look at my insurance coverage.......

Yes, my agent (I have safeco) said they will replace both my windshields when I am ready for zero dollars. P/S is cracked, but drivers side has a few stars. He said just tell them they bother your vision, which they do.

I installed probably 40 FT U270-U320"s windshields when a tech. Coach needs to be level. Make sure they glue it in with urethane on both sides of the rubber before they put the zipper in.Then let it sit 24 hours. Just my take

If it's not that bad, have the crack repaired for now Mexico! Wait till you get home. I am waiting, even though my pass side is cracked bad. Mine happened with a air ride issue. Want to make sure that is fixed.
I hate the thought of new windshields, because you know your going to get a star in your new windshield right in your vision.
Happened last winter in our Jeep.

Since you have the bus style, you have a greater chance of catching a rock in the glass than a GV. Since Mexico has more two lane main roads on average than we do, you chances are probably greater there. I was returning a VW to the airport rental in Puerto Vallarta after a couple of weeks when about 1K from the airport, a truck threw up a big rock and caught the windshield right in the middle. CC insurance picked up the $75 bill.

Where in Mexico are you headed? We are headed down after Q.

If you have time to stop by quartzsite on the way back from Mexico, I would give this guy Jeff a call. He sets up every year on Main St and hwy 95 on the NW corner.

He's been replacing motor home windshields for over 20 years, and is extremely knowledgeable.

He comes down from Junction City, Oregon.

His company/contact info is:
