Heater Hose to Check

When I was doing my resonator install I had a chance to check out all the hoses down there. I found this 3/4" heater hose had almost worn through from rubbing over the years. Something to check for you 8.3 guys. It's right up under the alternator area.

Shortly after buying our coach I was all about changing out all fan belts and hoses.  I did do the fan belt thing with all green stripe belts but what about the water hoses. I've  replaced some but then I heard / read that they were made out of silicone and good "forever". Is that realistic?    Prolly not.
  So when should I be changing that super long heater heater hose that goes from the engine to the front by way of the water heater tank. The last thing that I want to do is replace a premium hose with something less durable.  Not to mention all the other little shorties on the trans cooler and scattered around the engine

A VERY reasonable alternative to changing the long hoses to water heater and dash heater core is to use a barb to barb fitting and replace only the section in the engine room.  The remainder of the hoses that are "out of harms way" in the basement are very unlikely to give problems.

And, yes I like Gates green stripe hoses as well.

That's what I did. Except for the worn through part the 21 year old hose looked to be in excellent shape.

When I replaced my fuel lines, there were new ends for both hoses to the gen spliced back approx 6 ft.  Not sure who, or how long ago this was done by.  Only a temp fix for the fuel lines, they were also seeping above the fuel tank at the turns.

Radiator hose I do not know, I would trust wolf10 opinions as he has experience with this, I do not. Since the ends can be damaged replacing the water heater wolf10 comments make sense to me.

This is what I did on my coach.  I still fully expect to find a basement flooded full of coolant some day ;)

Let us know.  To my knowledge you will be the first to have a coolant hose break in the basement.

AGAIN, as I posted a couple of years ago all these hydraulic, coolant hoses need to be checked as FT used many that were too short and that has compromised the life expectancy of them. A nice routing plan was never used for them  and now the time of failure is approaching for many. One of the main reasons for removing panels every now again as it gives you ACCESS to many things just as Jor is showing.
