Splendide Washer Flood

Bought the coach in Mar 2016 and have had problems with the washer from the getgo. The door is very finicky. Shut the door and the washer will not start. Slam the door sometimes that does the trick. When it washes sometimes water leaks out the bottom of the door seal and runs across the bathroom floor, sometimes not. Early on when the door leaked we would put a pan under the door to catch the water that dripped. Then the washer finishes and the door will not open. In Mar 2017 we were at FOT for service and I had maintenance check the washer. You guessed it - it worked flawlessly. It seems the washer door seal drys out when the washer isn't use regularly. Since we have been living in the rig continuously since early Sep.2018 the washer has performed well except once in a while the door will not open after the cycle ends. Since we had been using the washer regularly it had not leaked for an extended period of time so we stopped using the drip pan. A few weeks ago I noticed drips of water on the curbside rear tires coming from the floor where the washer resides. It only occurred when the washer was being used, but not every time. Since we had not noticed water leaking out the door seal I presumed I had a new issue with the washer, i.e., broken drain hose or drain hose connection. Well, I disassembled the washer cabinet and pulled the washer half way out. I discovered the drain hose was not the problem; that the leak was from the door seal with the water leak draining back underneath the washer since the coach was listing to the curbside. In previous leaks the water ran across the bathroom floor in the direction of driver's side. Since I had the washer pulled out I thought it would be wise to change the fill hoses since they were ~ 16 years old. One morning when the wife departed for the bath house it seemed like a good time to change the hoses. Turned off the shore water supply to the coach and disconnected the hoses. In the process I left the washer fill valves partially open. In the middle of this project, mobile RV repair shows up to repair the auto leveling on the coach. I'm outside talking to RV repair and the wife returns from the bath house. She turns of the bathroom faucet and no water. No water, no problem - turn on the water pump. Meanwhile I'm outside talking to RV repair when we both notice water pouring out the bottom of the rig near the rear tires on both sides of the rig. Yikes!! Found out what it would be like if one of the washer hoses had actually burst. Luckily we carry a small wet vac and lots of "dog" towels and we are parked in dry Las Vegas. Had to pull up some of the bedroom carpet to let it dry out. Unfortunately water flooded the water pump bay and ruined the water pump. Looks like we will be using the drip pan from now on as long as we have this washer. If I remember I will also use the water manifold on/off valves on any water circuits I'm working on. Might help to inform the wife too (lol).

If it's a Splendide call them. They have very good support and most parts are still available. Maybe a new door seal will cure your ills.

Lock-out, tag-out! Whenever I'm working on electrical items or plumbing or gas I put a piece of red tape over the switch or valve.

Not that we want more work but can you fabricate a permanent tray that fits under the whole washer with a drain that exits so that if there was a failure it wouldn't soak the floor or the bays?
