mystery antenna on roof?

Does anyone know what this is (see picture).  I assume it some sort of antenna but for what?  It is on roof near front and has a wire going into the roof connected to what I don't know.  Is it a cell antenna?

It is the compass for the monitor.

Thanks Craneman.  Never would have guessed that especially since P.O. replaced monitor system and new one doesn't have compass.
