Sewer Hose for Storage in FT provided Tube

I carry several lengths of Camco Rhino flex hose with associated bayonet type adapters for use in campgrounds where a long run is required. These are stored in a tub in the rearmost driver side compartment (behind rear wheels).

For everyday use as well as use in dump stations I use a  hose that fits into the FT storage tube in the utility bay. This hose has a bayonet fitting on only one end since the bayonets don't fit into the tube.  The other end has a molded and tapered end but no threads.  It came with our FT so I don't know what brand it is.

Anyone know what brand hose works best (fit and durability) and easily fits in the FT storage tube?

Thanks

Randy

I use the highest quality(gray) Camco hose.

The cameo ends that are on a hoes that you buy didn't fit the fitting coming out of the coach so I cut it off and glued what I call a standard size fitting on the drain tube. I don't know if mine was from FT or PO had changed it.  If you do something like this be sure to use the ABS PVC glue.

For me the tube is useless, our hoses get stuck coming and going,I think your better off trial and error if your set on using the tube.
Someone's 10 year old hose may work and a new one won't,Foretravel may have used a slightly different PVC on mine as opposed to yours.Think on ours the wire embedded in the hose catches on the pvc and causes the problem.

Randy,
Maybe posting a pic would help someone identify what you have.  I am curious also what will fit.

Chris,

The OEM was a Theford fitting.  They were marketed as heavy duty. The replacement hose ends replacement #1665
Which will fit the Camco replacement hoses that we use. These fit in our OEM storage place just fine.

Im having trouble finding a sewer hose to fit onto my Thetford fitting (they all seem to be too small).  Do I need to purchase this adapter so a regular hose will fit.  Is there a hose that will fit my (I assume) OEM Thetford fitting?

Tommy,

You just need a sewer hose expander tool.  Here is the first one that came up so hunt around for the best price. SEWER HOSE EXPANDER | Detroit Hitch

Larry,

I learned a long time ago that the proper tool for the job will help in reducing the use of some French language.  One of these tools and the wife's hair dryer will make putting a sewer hose on a fitting a breeze. When these first came out long ago I bought it on a whim thinking if it was a gimmick  I wouldn't be loosing but ~$5.  I have used it more times than I can count. As many times as this has been loaned out at campgrounds the cost per use must be less than $ .05.

Giving the end of the hose a soak in a bucket of hot water helps too.

Most older units have Thetford fittings and hoses.  The new rigs have gone to the newer hoses like RHINO.  Adapters are available to adapt from the Thetford fitting to the new smaller hose fittings.  I got mine from Camping World.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

If you are thinking about adding a third valve you can then put on the standard Valterra fitting.

I installed 3rd valve a year ago. Here's a photo from ft forum from another owner.

I just carry the 3rd valve with bayonet  fittings so I can use it to kinda clean black tank!  I drain black tank then open grey tank valve and let it run into black tank then drain the rest. I may not be accomplishing anything but I thought it might at least give the black tank a partial rinse!

You can backflush the black tank by first dumping the black, then opening both dump valves while lifting then lowering the hose. Each time you lower it you can really see the results in the clear elbow.

After two or three cycles it comes out clear.
