HepvO Waterless Trap

I was just sitting in our "reading room" looking at the March issue of Family RVing (FMCA).  I always find something interesting in every issue, which is one reason I have retained our FMCA membership through all the political uproar (about allowing trailers to join).

ANYWAY, that is off topic.

ON topic:  I saw a little blub in the Tech Talk column about a plumbing product called HepvO.  Sounded like a useful product, so (naturally) I Googled it.  Turns out it has been around for a long time, but I missed the memo.  Our famous Forum member team of Barry & Cindy actually told the Forum about it back in 2010 (before my time).  But very little mention after that...

Just wondered if any members have had any extended experience with this item, and if so how it is working.  Sure seems like a good fit for RVs.  Our coach can sit for longish periods between trips.  I have problems in the summer with the P traps drying out, with the usual malodorous result.  I try to remember to fill them up every couple weeks, but I'm getting forgetful in my old age...

A 1/4" thick film in the trap of baby oil will keep them from drying out, water goes thru it and oil floats back

I guess I'll have to try that.  I just went out to our coach and looked at our traps under the kitchen and bathroom sinks.  Pretty tight under there.  This product would not fit without some major reworking of the drain line...  Would be more trouble than it is worth (to me).

To all others:  FALSE ALARM - DISREGARD MY FIRST POST.  Should have looked at my sinks before I posted.  :not:

Is there anyone in the forum that is using a HepvO waterless trap, or has used one?  The P trap under the kitchen sink has always been an obstacle storing stuff in that cabinet.  Amazon has them, and they have a good return policy, if it doesn't fit.  The smaller one costs a little more than the larger size.

Wow Jerry just looked at my setup, and I could gain s bunch of usable space with a minor piping relocation to the back of the cabinet with or without the hepvO. Just have to find a source for those odd ball abs fittings.

I have not looked yet, maybe a good idea to just relocate the P trap.  The HepvO valve is rather expensive anyway.

I ordered one and that's exactly what I found. No Rooms Available.  O:) Sent it back. :(
