Noisy water pump

The water pump on our coach is in my opinion is very loud. When I'm sitting outside and it comes on you know it. It was install when we bought the coach in 9/17, that seems like a short life......Does anyone use this type of pump? And is it loud? I'm thinking I'm gonna replace it.. suggestions?

Hey Keith,

I have no knowledge of this pump, but the online "specs" seem pretty good.  If the loud operating noise is your only complaint, and it is otherwise satisfactory, then you might experiment a bit to see if you can reduce the racket.  How is it mounted?  Does it have flexible water lines at the inlet and outlet, or are they rigid?  Is the pump bolted tight to the mounting surface, or does it have rubber noise isolating mounting pads?  Do you have a pressure tank?  The link below specifically states that any existing pressure tank should be removed when using this pump.  Don't know if or how that would affect noise...

I'm no expert, but 65psi operating water pressure seems kinda high to me.  If the pump has some kind of pressure adjustment screw, you might try lowering the pressure a bit, and see if this reduces the pumping noise.

Photo below of my pump install, using the noise reduction hoses.  Different brand of pump, of course, but it is very quiet (at 55psi max).

Yup, flexible lines for in and out will substantially quiet it down.

 I have the same pump in my motorhome if you open the  faucet  wide open ( max flow) it will cause a pulsation in the PEX tubing  in my case it was the the tubing  vibrating  against the holding tanks I was able to slide a noodle over that run of tubing which cured the problem .  Not sure if that's the  noise that you're hearing?

Most plumbing fixtures are designed to operate satisfactory at 20 psi inlet pressure (25 psi for commercial flush valves). At pressures above 80 psi are illegal as the porcelain China fixtures may explode and pressure reducing valves are required. You may need significantly less pressure than 65 psi on a coach. Check the installation manual for adjustment. As the pressure and amps go up It's a five chamber pump and every pump gets noiser as power increases.

Thanks. Ordered hoses, filter and an expansion tank and we'll see if that helps. Gotta figure out where the expansion tank will fit.

You might try just adding the silencing kit first - see if that helps.

In the link I posted above - the "Note" is pretty clear - this pump does not need (or want) a expansion tank (accumulator tank):

"Note: If you have an accumulator tank you will just need to remove it, this pump will not run correctly with an accumulator tank. The Aquajet pumps need a hard shut off, an accumulator tank creates a soft shut off."

HOWEVER, further investigation led me to the factory installation manual (linked below).  It doesn't say anything about a existing pressure tank, or if having one is detrimental to this specific pump's operation.  So I don't know...

I have been operating with an expansion tank for years. At a very low flow rate, without the tank,  the pump would continuously cycle on and off resulting in a pulsating water flow.

If you do decide to try a pressure tank, remember it can go anywhere in the cold water lines.  If there is no room in the water pump bay, you could look at the under-sink area in your kitchen and bathroom.  I moved our tank from the wet bay to the cabinet under the bathroom sink.  It's stuck back in the corner, out of the way, yet easy to check the charge pressure when required.

I just recently installed this same pump to replace the original Shureflo pump. The Aquajet is quieter in my coach than the previous pump. It is a variable speed and will run slower at low water flow.
