Retarder repair

Original post 11 months ago:

Anyone have their trans temp warning come on, when the trans is below normal temp? Like under 180 degree's. It works fine, gauge and Silverleaf read 185-195 degree's, but then the trans temp light come's on for a few seconds, till you turn off the retarder. It will do it while cruising at 45, when you let off a second, while the coach is cold.
Doesn't seem to do it when trans temp is at 195+. I have seen as high as 225, and it hasn't come on. Engine temp is always about equal to trans temp. I realize the retarder sender is not the same temp where it is located, which could actually be as high has 300 degree's. But I know I am no where near even 250  degree's.
I have checked and cleaned the connection's at the trans. I am thinking bad sender?

Update to issue:

So I  bought a $400.00 Allison trouble shooting manual used on Ebay for $22.00 delivered. Isn't Ebay wonderful?
Found where the temp probe is. Didn't have to drain trans oil. It is part of a small harness assembly, was quoted $500.00!
Did some bench testing with different temps in water (had the different ohm readings in the book). Determined it was the probe.
Having the manual, I was able to find a Allison probe only part number,  I couldn't find that separate part number anywhere online. Bought a genuine Allison one for $85.00 delivered. Yup, on Ebay. Installed it onto the harness, popped the harness back in, then took her for a drive, problem solved.
If anyone needs part numbers for their MD 3060R, I got it. Just PM me.

Again, good work. A little research and checking sources together with some DIY ability can save thousands and it's done correctly. Good hint for new members.

Yes, eBay is worth it's weight in gold. So is Craigslist. Facebook Marketplace is also not a bad place to look either.
