Arizona service reviews

Hi gang,
Before leaving Yuma to head north,  I had an oil change and lube performed  by Diesel 310 in Yuma. I cautioned them to leave the meritor clay brake  fittings alone . Was pleased with service.

Then onto Masseys Diesel and Rv Repair on 59th Ave in Phoenix. They are,a Spartan and Monaco service center. Very busy place as there  is also
Masseys oil and gas tank trailer across yard.
They have 30a service in the bay for rvs.
Tom the service writer had been there over 30 years.  He knows diesels and drive trains.
Labor is $115,an hour. Tech had 8 original  shocks removed and replaced with Koni gold in 2 hours.
Then had green coolant and filter replaced with red oat fleetguard elc and wf 2077 blank filter.
Plus an engine steam clean. Didn't know some radiator hoses were blue in color. Lol
There were other coaches like Entegra, Travel supreme, Newmar, and Monaco awaiting service.
As expected, booked about 30 days out.
I had good experience and would return.

Tom, glad your service work went well.

For others, a caution comes to mind when I tell a tech to stay away from brakes. I have found very experienced techs that when they see a zerk grease fitting, they will shoot it, not realizing the fitting is on brakes.  Their thinking is often 'who every heard of a grease fitting that couldn't benefit from a shot of grease?'

In other words, they could be so unfamiliar with brake grease that they don't know what to look for to stay away from.

Without being under there with them, maybe a flag on a brake zerk, like a zip tie or something else to physically identify the fittings not to be greased could be helpful.

Whats your opinion on the gold shocks? I just cant bring myself to spend what Koni wants for them. If it were a racecar shock itd be no problem for me. Id much rather use those yellow ones though. Someday Integra, Genisis, Ohlins, Penske etc. will make these shocks as well. Ive never used a Koni shock on my racecar. As far as racecars go, Bilstein is the better choice.

Bring yourself to do it,will be night and day difference.
Saltfever,sounds good ,did they flush your old coolant out at all?

Interesting.  From the looks of your coolant bottle, they used the PRE-DILUTE coolant. How did they achieve a 50/50 mixture given the gallons of water (hopefully-- not old coolant) in the lines from engine to water heater and dash heater core and those components themselves. 

Yes, it can be done by using compressed air to blow out those lines-- but very few do that extra work.  Unless that is what they did, concentrate is the only way to achieve the correct 50/50 mixture.

I did get the koni 8805-1010 fsd gold shocks.
Noticeable ride difference.

The technician, after draining green, filled with water and turned on dash heat and idled engine for awhile. Then drained water and filled with complete red and test drove 20 minutes. Afterward,  checked for leaks.

Check the coolant percent.  It will likely be less than the desired 50/50.  Pretty easy to drain a gallon or two and add the same coolant's CONCENTRATE.

Best would be for last fill to be with distilled water.  At a dollar a gallon at Walmart, cheap "upgrade".
