Aux compressor running about every 1/2 hour to 45 minutes

We parked and leveled on a fairly decent site. Red lamp blinking correctly etc. During the evening we would here a hiss, release of air, the rig tilt slightly to the left and sometime later the aux compressor kicked on and the entire procedure would repeat itself through the night.

The previous owner had installed a toggle switch i assume to shut this thing down.

The next day i repeated the leveling and it held for a while, then started all over again. I turned the toggle switch in the middle of the night, and damn it started again....un the morning i checked the red lamp and it was off

Paul,

The HWH system is designed to let the high side down first to obtain level. So first thought is you may have a raise solenoid leaking internally. This can cause the compressor to come on and cause the tilt. When the HWH wakes up every half hour or so it sees the out of level due to the leaking valve, this can result in the system letting air out of the high side to obtain level again.

As far as the switch, that could be for anything from an ejection seat to a escape oil slick for a zombie attack.

Thanks Mike, I'll look to see what that "raise solenoid" is...I wish I could locate some drawings,schematics and other documentation for this rig. One can hope, right

If you push the Air button twice you turn the system on in automatic mode. It will check the sensors for "level" once a half hour or so. If it needs to adjust level it will let air out first (hiss). It it needs to add air it will. If the air tank pressure is too low the compressor comes on.

The switch might cut power to the air compressor. There is a pressure switch on the compressor that will turn it on and off.

If you push the Air button just once it goes into manual mode. The up and down buttons work. The computer doesn't do it, you do. If the compressor has power and air pressure gets low it will come on. No power, no compressor. If you need to adjust level you can always let a bit of air out of the high side.

I level up manually generally adding air to the low side until my actually level says good. Then slide out, recheck level, engine off, compressor switch off. My level system is pretty air tight. A couple minor adjustments over a month is all I need to stay level enough.

Your 2003 operates in much the same way as the 2001 and earlier. Your air system is different from what is in the good textbook that Chuck posted. You should have a switch on the dash that opens a solenoid valve in the air system that lets the much bigger compressor in the 2003 charge the wet tank. Your air system has a water separator and a desiccant air dryer. The attached air system schematic is likely what your coach is like. Check the build number. It is applicable to build number 6024 and 6060 and later until this drawing is superceded.

Be happy that your HWH will "wake Up" every half hour or so.. No one can figure out why ours does not..
Turn ignition key on, punch the button twice, light blinks, levels, then goes dim then out..
Next morning you can feel that the coach is out of level.. so...
turn ignition key on( do not touch the HWH controls) and wait 5 to 10 minutes, HWH wakes up and re-levels... turn key off....rinse and repeat each morning..
I suspect that there are wires crossed @ the aux compressor or a broken wire somewhere.., but no one knows how to diagnose I gather.. Have had FT, MOT, Oregon Motor coach & Premier work on it.... no joy from any of them...ran out of money chasing this..
HWH-Moscow will be next...
I am an absolute disaster when it comes to electronic's or wiring...

I think a trip to Iowa is in the plan this year! I'd just like them to do a complete check and replace things if needed to prevent any future issues

In cold weather, like here in SD right now at 37 degrees, the 12 volt compressor runs often. In warm weather, it hardly ever runs.

They will check your HWH system and check and tag your coach for air leaks. They will not fix any air leaks. They will only work on the parts related to the leveling system. We are headed that way this summer. Make sure you call and make an appointment.

HWH will look for any leaks and mark them. They will correct leaks and issues on HWH components. Make an appointment. Have lunch at the Tipton Family Diner about 10 miles north of HWH.

OSIN, even if you don't do the work yourself make the effort to understand how the systems on your coach work. If nothing else you will have a better idea if what work is being done is appropriate.
