360 Birds Eye View Camera

I found a couple of old threads that didn't go anywhere on this.  Maybe someone has done this and can give me their experience.

On those rare occasions I ride in Rhonda's Traverse I am impressed with the birds eye view on the screen that lets her park perfectly between the lines on the first shot.  When backing the coach, it's sometimes hard to see in the mirrors because of sun glare or whatever.  In all these years I've only backed into something once and it didn't put a scratch on the coach.  (Can't say so much for the power pedestal.  Glad I had a little cash in my pocket.).  Sometimes it's just Maggie the dog with me and she just sniffs around instead of guiding me into a spot.

I don't see anything on Tim's website about them but there are other websites with systems that are priced for about a coach buck.  I emailed MOT a few days ago but haven't heard anything back.  May call them today.

I like having a backup camera, but I have a philosophy leaning towards not relying on technology. I station someone in clear view in my mirror before I reverse in strange surroundings.  I have a friend who backed an all terrain crane over a pickup truck that parked in a blind spot after the walk around . . .
That being said, my other option is 2-way radio with an open mike on the other end.  that way I an react quickly to the "Aaaaaack! Stop!"

I am looking forward to reading the conversation on this 360° camera system.

If they made a wireless system that only need 12 volts would consider it, the problem is that Foretravels are too well made, and drilling holes and mounting, and running wires for 4 cameras through the coach is a real PITA. Lot easier at the factory, Foretravel had this option for a while.

I've been interested in this as well.  Here are some "birds eye view camera systems".  I suspect that this tech needs to mature a bit.  Looks similar to what Tadi is selling.

This technology is offered on line automobiles now so the hard part has been done.  Given that this technology is probably being manufactured in China means that we can buy the same technology the auto manufacturers are using.

Possibly, though I imagine there's a fair amount of proprietary fitment (software) to specific vehicles.  But it is certainly possible to buy a system that will show the four sides of a vehicle.  I'd like to see this mature to the point that a seamless 360 picture is presented on the display.  (At reasonable cost....there exists video stitching software that can do it but $$$.)

I've been playing around with ultrasonic and lidar sensors, wanting to make a blind spot system for the coach.  The 360 camera thing might be a better way to go.  Be watching this with interest.

That proprietary stuff goes right out the window once you contract with Chinese companies for production.  Even if you contract with "reliable" machinery suppliers, you run the risk of the supplier taking your ideas and peddling them and his machinery to your competitors.
Our last employer never fully understood this and is now out of business.  All the while I was "giving "us" a competitive advantage" in the market place.

When I took the factory tour at FOT last year, they were calibrating the camera system on a new IH-45. They were laying white tarps with markings on the ground around all four sides.
