Todays entertainment for me,

Being a bit on the lazy side, I decided to drive my Coach off my ramp and over to the garage to weld the last bit of stiffer in for my front cap repairs, ,
four x one inch welds,  And its all finished, Also a bit of a safety factor, The hose is at the garage,
Then I will drive it straight down my drive and take it for a test drive, Make sure it all works,

I drove it over to the garage and went a bit to far, No probs, I will just back it up a bit,
Thats when the entertainment started,  Hahahahahaha

My coach is not going to play that game, It slid sideways in the mud,  Whoops,
Have you noticed how easy these Grandvilla's get bogged,  Hahahaha On dead flat ground with a cup of water on it, Bogged,
After a few trys, Its now stuck on the edge of the concrete drive,
I tried to chain it off, but its still not playing,
Its blocking the whole of my drive off, I cant get in or out,

Tomorrows effort, Jacking up the back wheel and putting a plank under it, That will get it onto the concrete,
Then its driving it backwards and forwards a bit at a time till I get it either back up the drive or can drive it down the drive,
I dont care which,
Its going to rain tomorrow as well,  That might throw a spanner in the works,

It's Buggered. 😇

Nothing compares to that feeling you get when your coach starts to slide.

Seems like you were in a similar situation once before.  Employing your awesome driving skills (and luck), you were able to extricate the beast.

Ah yes - here it is - "It's deja vu all over again".  Releasing the air Brakes,

One good thing - if you want to walk down your driveway, you don't need to go all the way around the coach.
You can just go in one door, and out the other!

If you happen to have a bag of lime, throw a shove full in front of and on the drive tires.  Give her some very mild stick, let em turn a couple turns.  Old trick,  have extracted many concrete and drilling trucks with it.  This was in Texas black gumbo clay soil, the slickest nastiest stuff ever.  No concrete truck around Houston leaves the yard without a bag of lime onboard.

Have had many people tell me there is no way this will work.    Maybe it'll work in your Aussie mud as well....

Don't know Chuck, Australia mud may be slicker than Texas mud.Ole Brian has a devil of time with it.

Any chloride should stabilize the ground if applied correctly and it can set up for a few days. Done correctly the chloride treatment is a long term fix, sets up like concrete.

I've never read or heard a good explanation of why the lime works.  But it's instantaneous, no waiting for it to dry up the soil, my guess is it has to do with affecting the mechanics of colloidal suspension.  Tandem axle truck nearly up to the hubs, "something" happens to the muck to allow it to climb up and out. Seen it many times and always amazed.

Thinking about it, these trucks, my drilling rigs and associated concrete trucks were always tandem axle and very heavy.  I tried it on a pickup truck bogged in the delta with zero effect.  Who knows.....but worth a shot.  There's some rear axle weight on a coach.

That was my first thought as well , A bag of Lime, Unfortunately, I dont have a bag here of it, And I cant get out to get it either,
Lime does work very well, I have used it before,
It works in the sloppiest mud of all kinds, It works instantly too,  Pour it on the tyres and a strip in front of the wheels and drive out,
Good thought, I will carry a bag of Lime with me in the coach,  Just in case I get bogged in future, Wrapped in a plastic bag,

Under the grass is compacted road gravel, I cant dig it with my back end loader, Back hoe,
Its been raining very heavily here for the last month, So turned the grass to slop,
Nothing drives on it with out slipping,
6 ton on the rear wheels and my Coach still slides on it, My Highway tyres have no grip what so ever when its sloppy even on flat ground,
I am aware of how easily it gets bogged on flat ground,

2,  1/2 days later, I have it out and sitting on hard gravel,
The rear of the coach had buried itself into the ground and just would not move, The rear wheel was off the ground on the low side,
The angle it was sitting on put all the weight onto the rear of the coach,
Impossible to get under it and jack it up,  I put a brick and a block of wood between the diff and the chassis, Which exploded into fine dust when it finally got onto the concrete,
Scared the hell out of me, All this loud banging, I thought the chain on the wheels had grabbed the fibreglass and ripped the side out of the coach,
My new apprentice came up and gave me a hand, She even had a crack at the chain block, Pulling the coach forwards,
I only had about 8 feet to play on, Large bank at the font and front side,
If I went over either, It was going to stay there as the guts of the coach would be firmly stuck on the ground,

But lots of forwards and backwards, I finally got the Coach lined up with the top of the drive and then covered it all in Lime and gave it full power in reverse,  It just made it, The weight of the moving coach just managed to get it back,
Now to get it ready for a 6 day trip to South Australia, About 1500 miles,
And put my new windscreens back in it,
It will be all along the beaches of Sothern Australia, Port Pirie is also on the beach, Top of the Gulf in South Australia, Great Ocean road to star it all off,
Then up the coast line, Mt Gambier and Kingston,  to Adelaide and Port Pirie,
Damage was the Exhaust fell off the muffler, Thankfully undamaged, But I did get a rip on the fibreglass at the back lower Skirt, Easily repaired,
I do have one hell of a drive, Its 1 in 3 where the coach got stuck,

Brian,

With your history of getting your coach bogged, you might want to stay off the beach.  Do you have quicksand in Australia?  :o

No way would I attempt to go on a beach, Hahahahaha,  I have enough trouble on flat gravel roads with it,
My highway tyres have Zero traction when its wet on dirt roads,  I try to avoid dirt or gravel roads at all times,

Yes we have quick sand here, But its all fenced off to the public,
