Generator Engine Fuel Pump

Anyone know what activates and deactivates the solenoid on the fuel lift pump (low pressure pump) on the Kubota generator engine?  A while back, my wife was walking by the front of the coach (nothing was running) and asked me what that rapid clicking sound was.  Turned out to be the solenoid was still driving the lift pump.  I clipped the wire and installed a toggle switch, but it's a nuisance to open the genset door to activate the solenoid every time we need the generator or deactivate it when we are done using it.  I'm assuming that having the pump running constantly is not a good thing.

I have both a Kubota utility tractor and a Kubota diesel ZTR mower.  Both machines activate and deactivate the lift pump with the ignition switch.  However, the genset doesn't have such a switch.

Larry, sorry, but you still need to add a signature line to your profile, as I remember you do not now have a U295?  Difficult to truly help you if folks don't know what year and model coach and what genny you have.

Larry,

The fuel pump is controlled by a relay on/in the ES52 controller. This is the board that you see the fault indicator lights on.  One of the relays (it has 2 that are alike) runs the fuel pump. Here is a thread that shows what I am talking about. Simple fix and good idea to have a spare one of these relays on board as they are just a few $

Edit:  Just FYI  the trick to getting the relay off of the board is, if you look closely at the base of the relay there is a pry slot. If you install a flat screwdriver in that little slot and twist this action will cause the relay to pop out of the relay mounting base.
