Power Tech

Right now taking exhaust loose on my power tech gen to slide out so I can get to the oil pressure safety switch.. Little ahead of myself but when I ever find it is there another switch to cross over so that I may find at a local parts store.. Reached Power tech early this morning but no such luck since then.. Should have asked all the questions while I had the man on the phone. Isuzu 8kw. 96 model and before fault code lights added.

The oil and the water are on the back side at the water pump end. One above the other, separated by about 6". Of course they have the wires attached.

Hard to get to even with unit slid out..

The best way physically to access them. Is to
1. Raise front as high as possible.
2. Slide forward generator. Lock it forward with some method.
3. Slide under at radiator end. Right above you will be the oil and water senders.
4. Good time to tighten belt!!!!!
5. Safety glasses to protect eyes is smart. If gen is hot. Let it cool. Hot fluids and exhaust pipe issues.

Where did you find a switch.. if so where. I need one quick.. just got this one out and it's bad.

Be hard to get from power tech when they don't answer the phone.

When my Pressure sender went out on my Isuzu 10kw I just bought a replacement at a auto parts store.  Pulled the old one, matched the threads on new one. 

I am not sure if pressure was rated the same, but it does work and has for 6 months.

Got power tech to answer the phone and they had one that will be here Friday. Found a front wheel seal leaking so I will replace it tomorrow and finish generator Friday hopefully. This FT has somewhere to be next week so these issues came up at a better time.. Thanks Tex for looking around for me.

Tried that Steve with no luck.. There is also amperage to consider as well.. Electric fuel pump seems to run thru this switch.. Seems like you solved yours without ordering and waiting.. I almost always have to order and wait in this 4 red light town.

Our Isuzu 8kw oil pressure switch has an odd tapered thread, not NPT.

 Learned there are several other tapered thread standards when we tried to Tee the switch for a dash mounted add-on gauge.

Different note but relates to Isuzu.. I have a friend who has been a refrigeration trailer mechanic for over 20 years and he said he has seen many Isuzu engines with 40,000 hrs on them without ever removing a valve cover. That may encourage some people who are Leary about running a generator.. I buy them to run and if I need it use it..Have talked to more than a few motor homers who will sit uncomfortable just to save hrs on a unit.. Not I.. Service them and use them when needed or wanted.

If my engine is running, 9/10 times, my generator is too!  They are made to use.

I looked at a used Dutch Star years ago and the original owner was so proud that his generator only had 75 hours on it.  And he used to drive it back and forth to the NE United States from Texas twice a year.  That scared me!
