Auto Gen settings

We are boondocking , with the generator set on "auto". We are not pulling any big appliances...but last night, the gen fired up about five times, ran for a short time and stopped. This morning I timed the interval. The Magnum read 12.1 when the gen kicked on, ran for five minutes, reached 12.9 to 13.1 bulk charging, and shut down. It cycled about every half hour, again, with no big demand. I will reread the manual, and reset the Magnum, IF necessary.
QUESTION: Am I doing something wrong?
Is this too short a cycle to recharge the batteries?
Shouldn't the cycle run longer to fully charge the batteries?
This is not a " strong point" for me, so any help is appreciated.

Yes, that's definitely not long enough to add any meaningful charge to the batteries.  I assume you're using a Magnum AGS kit connected to your other Magnum components?  Is it the networked version that is configurable through the ME-ARC50 control panel, or the standalone version?  Either unit is fully configurable to set the start and stop triggers but the procedure is completely different.  You say it's coming on at 21.1?  Is that a typo that should be 11.1v?  I'd say that's letting it get too low before starting the generator and it's obviously set to shut down too soon.  The user manual for your particular model will tell you exactly how to set it up.

I thought I set it to come on at 12.2

Glenn,

I have a Magnum monitor but my coach did not have the Magnum AGS module so the AGS setting on the monitor did nothing.  The BCM-12 system controls the AGS in my coach is mounted underneath the lower shelf panel of the center console between the driver and passenger.  If you go to Beam Alarm he has all the info on it and how to adjust: Dynagen BCM-12 Specifications

I hope you are lucky enough to actually have the Magnum AGS module for that is much simpler to adjust.
