Training for diesel engines - Maintenance, Service

So in approximately two years from now I hope to live the dream and go full-timing with my wife. The desired dream chariot for our travels would be a U320 vintage 2003 or 2004. Since I consider myself relatively handy around mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, I would like to learn as much as possible about diesel engines, more specifically the ISM02 in the U320.

Do any of you know of any training courses online or other ways so that I may start my 2 year journey of learning to be ready to manage my future diesel engine. I know I will never be an expert. I'm just hoping to find myself comfortable enough around the engine and may be even able to do some of its maintenance and service.

Thanks,
Peter

If there is a diesel repair shop in your area, you might offer to work for free as a go-fer and parts cleaner. You never know unless you try.

And you,ll be an expert in no time, volunteer to help nearby members on projects.

Lots of "How To" videos on Youtube.  Some are excellent - some are a waste of time.  But all are free, so the price is right.

Our local community college has a diesel engine/trans. repair program, might check your area.

The best spot for the RV mechanical stuff is here on the Forum as stated above.

The real question is do you or have you ever worked on your own automobiles?
